Name without the shame
Shame's optional, naming's not.
Try this:
Name a resource gap w/o shame.
Here’s what I mean;
“I really want to know what my math students are getting in real time, but I need whiteboards for them”.
This separates
what I can control from
what requires advocacy.
If I need 22 mini-whiteboards, that’s concrete.
Notice what it’s NOT:
it’s not thinking, “I should know what my students know”
it’s not thinking “Other teachers don’t need this, what’s wrong with me"?”
Here’s the practice:
Name the gap without the shame.
Try this: The 1 gap I’m naming w/o shame is: ______________.
Practice typing it and hit reply. I want to know and you’ll build that naming muscle.
See you in class,
J
