Erasing scarcity
Let's admit it: skill doesn't erase scarcity
What’s on your list for creating “quality” learning experiences?
My big 5:
time,
money,
class-size,
planning space,
support.
Now, imagine erasing any of those.
How’s the learning experience going now?
Our (teacher) growth feeds into this, but so do structural resoures.
How does a school erase its scarcity?
By turning its (system) resource problem into my character problem.
If I’m challenged with 35 Algebra I students, my principal doesn’t say, “Oh, yeah, that’s too many.”
Instead the system sends cultural memos like,
“Jeff, if you had better class management skills…” or
“Dwayne could handle that many, what’s your issue?”
Reply with your finish to this: “I’m showing up, but here’s where my system’s not…”
See you in class,
J

The best ability is availability. And the best system is always foundational and adaptable when needed. To answer your inquiry — I'm showing up, but my system doesn't always adapt as quickly as my students change.
Honestly, it's all about the systems. They're not functioning for this day and age of teaching.
